Frontend Lead - React, TypeScript & Applied AI
Playground Dev is the software engineering company in Playground Group. We're a tight-knit team in central Stockholm, and we're growing across backend, fullstack and AI engineering.
Right now we're in a big build phase on our in-house platforms: group-wide initiatives that several companies in Playground Group rely on. It's complex territory, with many systems, many stakeholders and real data moving through it, and it matters. That's why we've built a large team around it, with leads in place for most areas. The frontend is where you come in.
What you'll do
You'll be the person who decides how the frontend gets built, and you'll still be building it. In practice:
Own the frontend architecture: how it's structured, how it scales, and how it holds up long after launch.
Set the frontend strategy and the standards around it, including component quality, performance, testing, and what "done" actually means.
Take features from design to production yourself, treating craft, speed and usability as non-negotiable.
Move down the stack when the problem calls for it, into the APIs, services and data flows behind the UI.
Work side by side with the other leads, and an awesome team. You'll bring the frontend perspective into technical and product decisions so the platform grows without piling up debt.
Lift the team around you through pairing, reviews and sharing what you know.
Who we're looking for
You're a frontend-leaning fullstack engineer who has designed frontend architecture that had to scale: more features, more teams, more users. You've made the big calls and lived with the consequences, and you can explain the trade-offs to engineers and non-engineers alike.
We work a lot with TypeScript, React, Next.js, Node.js and Python in multi-cloud environments. You're deep on the frontend side and comfortable enough in the backend to own a feature all the way through.
You've also genuinely changed how you work over the last couple of years. AI tools and agents are a natural part of how you build, and you have opinions on how they change the way teams work. If you've built AI-powered features into a product, even better.
Leadership here starts with technical direction. If you've led people before, great. If not, it's something you can grow into.
It's a big plus if you have:
Experience with design systems or large-scale frontend platforms
Hands-on work with LLM-powered interfaces, streaming or agents
Side projects, open source, weird experiments with agents? Tell us about it!
Why on-site
This role is on-site five days a week at our office on Gamla Brogatan in central Stockholm. The whole project team sits together, and we're in a fast build phase where the big decisions happen at a whiteboard, not in a thread. Architecture gets settled a lot faster when the backend lead is ten metres away. We think that's worth it, and we think you will too.
How we work
AI is part of our daily workflow, from how we deliver to how we learn and solve problems. We spend real time exploring new tools and learning from each other, and the bar is high.
All our work is done in teams. The distance from idea to production is short, and you won't sit in a narrow box.
